# Sender identity

> The sender name, legal name, postal address and contact email a Geenius Newsletter publication needs before it can send.

Source: https://newsletter.geenius.io/docs/sender-identity/

A publication cannot send until readers can see who it is from.

## Required before the first send

- **Sender name.** The name on the mail.
- **Legal name.**
- **Postal address.**
- **Contact email.** Shown with the publication.

If any of these is empty, the publication is not ready to send. A reply-to address is optional. When you set it, it has to be an email address.

You can change these later. The public address of the publication cannot be changed.

## The sending domain is separate

The domain check looks up SPF, DKIM and DMARC and only reads DNS. See [Your sending domain](/docs/sending-domain/).

> [!NOTE]
> In early access, sends run in test mode. Filling in the sender identity does not by itself deliver mail. No mail leaves the app until a mail provider is connected for production.
